Sutton Coldfield’s Holy Trinity Centre played host to Trustees and staff of the Royal Town’s oldest charity for an ‘Away Day’ in November.
The event saw the Trust team reviewing progress on a range of issues, one year on from the date that the SCCT five-year plan was approved by the Board of Trustees in November 2022.
Supported by Facilitator, Dennis Kennedy, of Inspire Activity, presenters at the event included SCCT chair Keith Dudley, Vice Chair Inge Kettner and Chief Executive Tina Swani.
Crucially, the day also provided a learning opportunity for participants on Accountability, Strategy and Effectiveness.
During the day, staff and Trustees learned about recent legislative changes to the Charities Act, Trustee accountabilities and the background that lead to the creation of the five year plan.
They heard a summary of progress made over the past year (which also went to Committees and the Board of Trustees), and were told about the different charitable structures available for future consideration.
SCCT Staff and Trustees considered how to potentially expand the Trust’s grants programme, how to reach everyone that would benefit, and how to ensure decisions relating to the running of the Trust were as effective as possible.
The Trust’s commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion remains a priority throughout all plans.
Actions were agreed from the day as a series of next steps, which include building on the growing collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the Royal Town in order to achieve the SCCT vision to enhance the quality of life for all in Sutton Coldfield.
SCCT’s Chief Executive Tina Swani said: “The Away Day was a valuable exercise that helped keep the Trust’s extended team not only up-to-date with the latest regulations, it also gave us an opportunity to consider the future.
“The day was about harnessing the power of collective thinking, bringing together Trustees and staff to think abut what we want to achieve in the future, and how it can be done.
“I would like to thank everyone who gave up their time to contribute to such a worthwhile event.”
